 Dr. Schacter received his dental degree, with honors, from St. Louis University in 1968. After graduation he spent a year as a resident at Philadelphia General Hospital rotating through the various departments. Upon completion of his residency he served two years as a US Navy Lieutenant dentist for a Marine helicopter squadron Japan and Vietnam. After returning from active duty he earned a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics, with honors from USC in 1968. He has practiced orthodontics exclusively in the West Valley since that time. Dr. Schacter enjoys teaching and is an Associate Professor in the Graduate Orthodontic Department at USC, where he has been teaching for the past thirty five years. During this time he has been chosen teacher of the year three times. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, and a member of the Edward Angle Society, where he has received multiple awards for clinical excellence.
In his spare time, Dr. Schacter loves to play tennis,ski, mountain bike,play with his grandchildren and collect contemporary art . He and his adventurous wife of forty five years also love travelling around the world to exotic places..
